Missing Child

A perfectly oridinary set of old signs. But look more closely.

Do you see it?

A small child has been rammed through the sign and all that is left is her little pink welly. She was hanging out the other side - Obviously I couldn't take a photo of her as I was too busy laughing, urrm, I mean helping.

No Rubbish

I'm going to go back to this place later in the year to see if the sign gets completely obscured.

It says "No rubbish or unwanted material shall be left on this slipway".

The Big News, As It Happens

As promised, I bring you more gems from the local newspapers. I accept that the last one was six months ago but never mind. Being down in Falmouth I find it easier, or is it essential, to browse the local papers. This little blockbustering minedexploding bit of news which, it should be noted, did not even warrant a full stop at the end of it, is brought to you from the Falmouth and Penryn Packet.

Ellen can do it but we can't

I have a passing interest in yachts and the sea and the biggest recent event was of course Ellen Macarthur's round the world record breaking journey. Journalists can compare her favourably or not against other great sportswomen or even other great women - however, I completely believe she did for her own reasons and would find these comparisons irrelevant.

What is relevant, though, is we're in Falmouth again and so the first thing we did after unpacking was to pop round to see the not so beautifully named B&Q trimaran.

Having driven down through fairly extreme weather, we were presented with amazingly high winds and so not allowed down to the pontoon to have a closer look. Ellen faces everything the weather can throw at her and we can't even be trusted to step onto a floating pontoon. The people in the second picture live in the Portdennis development and have private access (and bring their friends no doubt).

Not sure the photo does justice to the atrocious conditions but it's a fine boat nonetheless.

Museum Piece

We went to the RAF Museum, Hendon, yesterday which is a really neat place to go - no litter. Lots of space, interactive bits for the kids, huge planes. And very educational as can be seen by this example of the information they have depoly around the exhibits.

Sleep

Did you see that porgram by Professor Robert Winsotn last night? All about sleep patterns and how to sleep better. Fascinating stuff. Can't stop thinking about it. Which is a pity as it's now three bloody thirty in the morning.
